The weather and the game didn’t look good in Matoaca’s eyes Tuesday afternoon.
But Wednesday was a new day as Matoaca rallied to top Manchester 6-4 Wednesday to advance to the Central Region semifinals.
Matoaca will face Mills Godwin Friday at The Diamond at 4:30 p.m. in the first semifinal.
The Warriors erased a 3-0 deficit that Manchester took before Wednesday’s restart.
Tuesday’s game was suspended as lightning and heavy rains belted Manchester High, sending the game to a 4:30 Wednesday restart, back at Manchester.
The Lancers got a solo home run from Ryan Morrison, and a two-run blast from Logan Toney for the margin.
The Warriors loaded the bases in the first and second innings, but Morrison fought out of both situations, as he had six strikeouts through three innings.
But Matoaca fought to win the battle of the top two teams in the area for most of the season.
